HOW AND WHY DO YOU THINK BOLLYWOOD HAS BECOME SO POPULAR OUTSIDE OF INDIA?

Hey guys, inspired from Tahmina's discussion, was just wondering what you guys think about this, since many of us do live outside of India...I was wanting to know how you first discovered Bollywood movies and what you about it so much!
How do you think Bollywood gets the international audience interested? Is it the locations? The westernised look? (girls wearing shorter clothes and men showing off their body) or the modern storylines e.g. teen pregnancies etc.........Would love to know your views! And anyone who helps gets an added bonus by getting their name put into my list of 'thank you's because this will help with my dissertation project! Thank you for your opinions =] GET DISCUSSING PEEPS!

Permalink Reply by Aida Madiha on November 2, 2009 at 4:34am: nice discussion yazz...well..yeah...i live at malaysia...and i love indian movies....not because girls wearing shorter clothes and men showing off their body)..bollywood movie hv their own quality.from old,evergreen until now..!!..4 me...i hate my own country movies becoz it doesnt hv any objective in the story..!! bollywood is popular with their song,beautiful ACTORS..!!.anushka and shahid, ranbir, kats,pranks are popular now.besides srk and salman..and the rest...the dvds and cds of bollywood sold out here..!! ..now in malaysia everyone knows them..!! kats are the top becoz she hot..sexy beautiful...but poor her acting hv be improve...and i see she hv make great job APKGK..AND beautiful costumes..and their acting..thats why outside indian hv Bollywood gets the international audience interested...!! thats all i can say...i cant explain better...its just my opinion..; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by tahmina on November 2, 2009 at 5:01am: i think bollywood has become popular outside of india because they are different to hollywood plus some of us can relate to the characters in hindi movies. also for the older generation it tlike having homeland in ur new homeland if u get what i mean, it bit like Hong kong films being made for people outside of china. bollywood films are so out of this world that it a brilliant escapsim from the boring busy lifes that we lead here. by watching this hindi films it gives people hope and a sense happiness.; ▶ Reply to This
